AIG welcomed Alitalia`s first flight to Amman from Rome. The flight arrived at QAIA on Thursday at 2:35am.
Alitalia will operate 4 weekly flights between the two capitals departing from Rome every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 10:10 pm and arriving in Amman at 02:35 am. Flights will be departing from Amman every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 04:25 am and arriving in Rome at 07:15 am.
“Alitalia’s return to QAIA reaffirms Jordan’s position as a key player in the Middle East air transport sector and supports our objective of positioning QAIA as the airport of choice in the region by adding further depth and range to QAIA’s route network” said Mr. Curtis Grad, CEO of AIG.
Mr. Fabio Campitelli, the General Manager of Alitalia Jordan, proudly announced the re-launching of the flights between Amman and Rome mentioning that this significant step is very important for the development of the Company in the area, taking also into account the strong market positioning that Alitalia used to have historically in the Jordanian market. With this new flight from Jordan, Alitalia will strengthens its position in the Middle East Area with a total of 83 destinations, out of which, 28 domestic, 41 International and 14 Intercontinental, using a modern and efficient fleet of 158 aircrafts.
Last month, Alitalia announced that it will resume flights to Amman from the Italian capital city of Rome after a 6-year hiatus, aboard the airline’s Airbus 320.
The USD750 million rehabilitation and expansion works at QAIA are well underway, including the construction of a new state-of-the-art 100,000 square meter passenger terminal. AIG is a Jordanian company with private shareholding by Invest AD (Abu Dhabi, UAE), Noor Financial Investment Company (Kuwait), Edgo Group (Jordan), Joannou & Paraskevaides (Overseas) Limited (Cyprus), J&P-Avax (Greece) and Aéroports de Paris Management (France).
