Prime Minister Nader Dahabi Visits QAIA

During a recent visit to the airport last October, Prime Minister Nader Dahabi checked on the progress of the ongoing QAIA expansion project. He stressed the importance of completing the project in a timely manner, reiterating the government`s support for the venture.

During July and August this year, around one million passengers travelled through QAIA.

Thanks to the growing number of carriers operating an increasing number of flights at QAIA, are the principal driving force for the expansion and development of the airport,

Touring the site, the PM was briefed by our CEO, on the progress of the works.

So far, around 16 per cent of the expansion has been completed while the entire project is scheduled to be completed in March 2012. The PM, who was accompanied by Transport Minister Sahel Majali during the tour, was briefed that the implementation of the $700 million expansion project will help accommodate the increasing number of passengers and will raise the airport`s capacity to nine million passengers annually, up from three million currently.

Dahabi was also briefed on the improvements to the current passenger terminals that AIG is currently carrying out.
