Airport International Group (AIG) - the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) - has kicked off on 27 April, 2015, the Airports Council International (ACI) ‘10th Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference & Exhibition’. Held for the first time in the Middle East under the patronage of the Jordanian Minister of Transport, H.E. Dr. Lina Shbeeb, the three-day event will continue until 29 April, 2015, at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea.

Organized under the theme of ‘Sustaining Aviation and Tourism Growth under Unprecedented Challenges’, the event has brought together approximately 400 key aviation industry stakeholders including delegates, executives, government entities, specialists and service providers from various countries worldwide. The event schedule features multiple workshops, sessions and discussion panels aimed at tackling various topics pertaining to ongoing airport development, as well as examining methods for achieving airport business sustainability in the face of evolving airport industry trends and challenges that transcend conventional business boundaries.

As part of the ongoing activities of the ‘10th Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference & Exhibition’, the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly hosted on Tuesday 28 April, 2015, the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards Ceremony. The ASQ Awards were presented in four categories - Best Airport by Region, Best Airport by Size, Best Small Airport and Best Improvement - where winners were determined based on the ASQ Survey, the world’s leading airport passenger satisfaction benchmark program. According to the 2014 ASQ Survey, QAIA rose through the ranks to come in at first place in the categories of ‘Best Airport by Region: Middle East’ and ‘Best Improvement by Region: Middle East’, a historic achievement for Jordan’s prime airport.

“We are excited to be hosting the ‘10th Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference & Exhibition’ for the first time in the region. By bringing together such a notable group of industry experts from around the world, we seek to highlight Jordan on the global map as a prime host of prominent events that discuss pressing topics, opportunities and challenges within the local, regional and international aviation industry. I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation towards the Ministry of Transport and H.E. Dr. Lina Shbeeb for extending their generous patronage, and to thank ACI for being behind such a highly acclaimed industry event and for the trust it has vested in AIG to bring the ‘10th Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference & Exhibition’ to the Middle East,” commented Kjeld Binger, CEO of AIG.

In turn, Fredrick Piccolo, Chairman of the ACI World Governing Board and CEO and President of Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority, stated, “Asia-Pacific and the Middle East are dynamic areas of the world when it comes to aviation. The sustainable growth and continued success of our industry will depend largely on how well we all work together and how effectively we drive our initiatives. This event, kindly and expertly hosted by Airport International Group, is the perfect setting for actively pursuing our vision for this industry.”
