Continuing a consistent streak of traffic growth for the fourth successive month, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) registered an increase of 7.2% in year-to-date (YTD) passenger traffic (PAX), receiving a total of 2,241,327 passengers since the start of the year. In April, QAIA welcomed 601,808 PAX, set against 578,539 PAX in April 2015, indicating a 4.0% year-on-year increase. Throughout the month, the Airport also registered a significant 5.8% year-on-year climb in ACM figures, for a total monthly ACM of 6,029 compared to last year’s 5,700. Additionally, QAIA handled 9,670 tons of cargo in April 2016 as opposed to 8,742 tons during April 2015, bring about a year-on-year rise of 10.6%.

“For the fourth consecutive month, QAIA has registered significant growth in PAX, ACM and cargo traffic results, which were especially enhanced by the Easter holiday and Umrah trips,” said Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group. “We look forward to witnessing more positive results during the upcoming period, not only as a result of the nearing holiday season, but also due to the dedicated efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, which has recently launched new campaigns showcasing the Kingdom’s major attractions in order to appeal to more tourists.”
