Queen Alia International Airport Welcomes Over 600,000 Passengers and 6,000 Aircraft Movements in May

Amman, July 2017 – As of the end of May, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has welcomed a total of 2,981,088 passengers in 2017, indicating a 3.8% year-to-date (YTD) increase in passenger traffic (PAX) in comparison to the same period in 2016, according to statistics released by Airport International Group.

Furthermore, 619,630 passengers travelled through QAIA in May 2017, marking a small dip of 1.9% in comparison to the same month of last year. Airport International Group stated that, throughout May, the Airport recorded 6,268 aircraft movements (ACM), representing a year-on-year rise of 1.0%, while YTD ACM witnessed a marginal decline of 1.0%. In addition, 9,185 tons of cargo were handled, exhibiting an increase of 2.2% against figures from May 2016, which marked a 6.5% drop in YTD cargo traffic.
