Amman, June 2019: Based on official statistics released by Airport International Group, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 804,153 passengers (PAX) in April 2019, indicating a significant 10.6% growth compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, QAIA witnessed 6,717 aircraft movements (ACM) and handled 8,979 tons of cargo, marking a 6.1% increase and a 5.8% decrease, respectively.

Throughout the first four months of 2019, QAIA welcomed 2,728,570 passengers, registering a 7.4% rise in year-to-date (YTD) PAX figures, as opposed to the same period in 2018. Moreover, YTD ACM totaled at 24,463, recording a notable 6.7% surge, while YTD cargo stood at 31,587 tons, amounting to a 7.7% drop.

“We are pleased to further build on the positive passenger results we achieved during Q1 2019. The increase was mainly driven by the Palm Sunday and Easter holidays, where people traveled back home to visit their families and others seized the opportunity to go on vacations. With the approach of summer, we are very optimistic with regards to what the upcoming months will bring,” stated Airport International Group CEO, Kjeld Binger.
